Market Reports: Daily Commentary From the Desk, Stamped and Scored Against the Tape

The desk's written commentary, published with the price at the time of writing and scored against the live tape from then on, with the posted and written times on every report.

The market reports page
reports

The reports page carries the desk's written commentary: what it is watching, what it makes of the day's prints and what would change its view. Each report is stamped with the time it was written and the time it was posted, and with the price of its instrument at publication, so a reader always knows when a view was formed and what the market was doing at the time.

From publication onward a report is scored against the live tape, which keeps the record honest: a call is judged by what the market did after it was made, not by how it reads afterwards. Reports are never deleted, so the archive is the desk's full record.

Subscribers receive each report by email when it is first published, in the desk's own note format, and can read the archive by instrument or by date on the page.

What it shows

  • The desk's commentary, with written and posted times on every report
  • The price at publication stamped on each one
